Ford Anglia E494A
I thought I'd work up one of my Ford Pops in to a Ford Anglia road version. So here's an early 1950s Ford Anglia, in the Daily Express 1000 Miles Car Rally, 1952, piloted by Lola Bounds & Anne Hall. Pretty standard road car, with the exceptiion of a couple of spot lights, and the rally plate.
Shell primed off with Tamiya grey primer; this allows you to see any imperfections, which can then be corrected.
I've built a removable interior unit, to fit over the PCS32 chassis. Seats from a cheap diecast, modified, dash and steering wheel are my own mastered castings, drivers are made up from various slot car / Preiser / military bits, plus filler.
OK, bits-and-pieces..... Apart from casting the shell, I've also cast some of the peripherals, principally steel wheel facings with hubcaps, dashboard, bumpers, headlights - all visible here. Also some slotcar spares headlight lenses, plus the spotlights on the front bumper are left-overs from another resin car I made, cast by someone else.
So I've remastered my Ford Pop hot rod shell in the background, reverting it to a standard road car - standard width rear arches, and standard as opposed to custom fittings. Pop and Anglia are clearly model variations on the same car - the shell at the front is now under way being re-prepped as an Anglia - small detail changes, such as the location of the windscreen wiper mounts.
This is a PCS32 chassis, which the shell has been modelled for i.e. PCS32 mounting blocks inside the shell. Note the chassis has been tapered to match the profile of the shell, AND that I've replaced the standard front axle with a custom-built tilting unit, also incorparating an MRRC Ackermann steering unit. The tyres arre narrower on the front, dictated bt the narrow width of the shell.
Painted off in assorted matt acrylic & enamels, and areas like dash & seats semi-glossed with a one thin wipe of Klear. And wheels painted off in silver, with black hub caps with chrome-foiled centres, the hub caps also now glued on.
Finished -
All assembled, including windows, but left off the passenger & driver side windows. Painted off in black Vellejo acrylic, glossed with a couple of coats of Klear (but left the vinyl roof matt). Chrome done with Bare-metal foil. Rally and number plates made up on the computer, printed to paper, clovered with sellotape, stuck on to a plastic card backing, cut out & mounted.
